Kaleidoscope

The times today are dark. With Corona virus sweeping across the world, I shudder to realise how easily something can vanish. Like routine. Routine, I always believed was my most robust warrior, but quicker than the snap of a finger, it crumbled to the floor like a castle built from a pack of cards. We pretty much live in castles made from a pack of cards, then over the time, our foolish minds forget its temporariness. We spend our lives building it higher only to collapse. A mental note to my heart, do not, I repeat, do not finish yourself thinking about this castle built, your loyalties lie elsewhere!

Well, so my husband, myself and my little daughter have locked ourself indoors for the last 7 days now, stepping out only to buy essentials when required. Does that bother me? In the big picture of life, no it doesn't, I'm grateful that my loved ones and I are safe, and that we have the luxury, unlike a lot of others, to keep ourselves safe. Narrow the focus down to only myself and the answer would change. Of-course it bothers me. I find it super hard to cope working from home. I'm always stressed on a weekday of how will we manage our daughter if my husband and I both have a call at the same time! Trivial but not insignificant.

It is not unusual, given the situation, that I now have time to spend where I have nothing to do. Rare and crazy as it feels, yet true! From that time, I did a little craftwork with my thoughts and brought together a flower with a unique colour for each petal.

Kaleidoscope

Gather the broken pieces of your heart,
Put them in a Kaleidoscope,
See your magical moments unfold
Which no darkness could dim,
Nor any illness could trim,
See them hop from one to the next,
Like a ballerina moving gracefully,
Be amused by their infiniteness,
Overwhelmed by their detail,
Awed by their grit,
For they are yours.
When the times are dark,
Those colours would still fly,
Like fluttering little humming birds,
Reminding you of what lies underneath,
A heart full of ghastly visions,
A flame still breathing,
Safe deep inside,
Like you and me!
